BIOGRAPHY
The eldest of three children, born to a Ugandan mother and an English father, Zawe Ashton is also the granddaughter of Paulo Muwanga, who was president and prime minister of Uganda. Very early on, she showed a great interest in theater. She thus became a member of the National Youth Theater and joined Manchester Metropolitan University.

Playing in several plays in prestigious venues (the Soho Theatre, the Royal Court, the Globe Theatre, etc.), we see the actress shine in Rhinoceros , The Arsonists , Gone Too Far! , Othello , Frontline , All The Little Things We Crushed , This Wide Night and Salome (which allowed him to receive second prize at the Ian Charleson Awards).

In front of the camera, Zawe found his first roles by appearing furtively in various series like The Demon, Headmaster , In Immersion , Manhunt , The Bill , Sherlock and Misfits . At the same time, the young woman starred in the films St Trinian’s 2 , Weekender , Dreams of a Life and Blitz , played by Jason Statham in great form opposite Aidan Gillen .

In 2011, her career took a turn when she was chosen to play a student discovering university life in the series Fresh Meat , which lasted until 2016. Building on this success, her roles gained importance. As proof, she plays significant characters in Jackson Brodie, Private Detective , Not Safe for Work or Wanderlust .

The London native hasn’t forgotten about cinema, as evidenced by her performances in the intense thrillers Nocturnal Animals and Greta , as well as the horrific Velvet Buzzsaw . But above all, Zawe Ashton plays the powerful Dar-Benn in The Marvels , who is none other than the main villain giving a hard time to the heroine played by Brie Larson .

In the comic books, it was about a man, a general who became emperor of the Kree, humanoid extra-terrestrials with whom Carol was raised. In the film directed by Nia DaCosta (to whom we owe the horrific Candyman), it is about a woman and an Accuser (like Ronan, villain of Guardians of the Galaxy), affiliated with the same empire.
