Scott and Tessa decided to step away from the ice for a while, but they could not do so for quite a long time. They genuinely believed retirement was just around the horizon, but they missed skating with each other too much.
Preparing for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, they knew it felt natural to return. Instead of feeling obligated to demonstrate their skills, they were skating for them this time.
Being at the top is tough, but Tessa and Scott decided to give up figure skating after taking home the gold in South Korea and concentrating on living their lives off the ice.
