Lee Dutton is a fictional character played by Dave Annable in the series "Yellowstone." The first season of the series of four seasons was aired on June 20, 2018, on the Paramount Network. In the season one premiere of Yellowstone, Lee Dutton was killed when he tried to take back the stolen cattle from the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Dutton caught crossfire and received a gunshot wound from Robert Long, Kayce's brother-in-law.

How Did Lee Dutton Die In Yellowstone?
Lee's father protected the ranch throughout his life for the first two seasons. However, it changed when all of the chaos led to the death of their father. Lee gets murdered by the conspirators in the first episode of the third season of Yellowstone.

In consequence, what led to Lee's death in the event of cattle robbery on the ranch as Lee goes to find them all with his livestock agents, tracing them through the Broken Rock reservation.
However, on the hand, Kayce and his family tries to stop Lee from getting their cattle back. As soon as Lee tries to stop Kayce, his brother-in-law Robert tries to set fire to Lee, which goes straight through his heart of Lee. In the last gaps of Lee, the brother in Kayce's soul wakes up and tries to heal Lee, but Lee finally yields to the injuries caused to him by the wounds of the bullet.

Why Did Lee Dutton Really Leave Yellowstone?
Actor Dave Annable who portrayed the actor Lee Dutton, said he refused the role because he had another upcoming project to work on. Dave Annable was encouraged by the creator Taylor Sheridan while in the audition for the position of Lee Dutton, and he was excited to know when he was selected.

When the actor Dave Annable came to know that his character was going to die, he said, "OK with that," to the Hollywood Reporter.
Even though Dave was cast for two days and his character died in the series, he will be recalled as bonding with Costner over the scene. After leaving Yellowstone, Dave went on to star in the main cast of the series What/If.
