Among the many YouTubers who managed to win the hearts of millions of people is Wengie. She is a Chinese-Australian YouTube personality, vlogger, singer and voice actor.
Wengie is popular for a ton of things including her easy hacks, DIYs, craft ideas, fun experiments, tricks and pranks, hair tutorials, diet and fitness tips, lookbooks and fashion videos, skin care tutorials and tips and much more.
As of December 2018, her first YouTube channel, Wengie, had more than 13 million subscribers and over 1.2 billion views. This made her Australia’s most popular YouTuber.
Wengie’s bio
Born Wendie Ayche on January 9, 1986 in Guangzhou, China, the YouTube goddess is better known as Wengie, another version of her Chinese name, Wen Jie. She started using the name when she was teaching dance classes because there were two Wendies at the studio where she worked. Everyone called her Wengie and it stuck.
Her family were first-generation immigrants to Australia. At the age of 35, her father moved from China to Australia as a refugee after the Tiananmen Square massacre. At the time, he didn’t know how to speak English, so he learned it from scratch and later earned his PhD. A few years later, his wife joined him, leaving Wengie in China in the care of her nanny and grandparents. Wengie later joined her parents when she was four years old.
Although her mother has a college degree, she became cleaner at home because that was the only job she could get. Wengie was usually home alone as her parents had to work late to make ends meet. It was so difficult for the immigrant family that almost everything they used at home was second-hand. Wengie had to make most of the toys herself, and that’s how her creativity began. His parents eventually moved to Sydney when he was 7 after finding better jobs there.When she was in high school, her mother gave birth to her brother named Jim. After graduating from high school, she studied accounting in college and worked as an account for four years before retiring and getting another job as a social media consultant. After her professional success, she was promoted to department head.
While working as a social media consultant, she started her own fashion blog and launched her first YouTube channel, Wengie, on February 11, 2013, where she posted makeup, fashion, and home improvement videos. She filmed and edited her videos at home during her lunch breaks and after work. She worked so hard to balance building her channel and blog with her daily work that even her social life suffered.
However, in August 2014, she finally decided to quit her job, which was paying her six figures, to watch YouTube full-time. In an interview with tubefilter.com, the YouTuber said it’s one of the hardest things she’s ever had to do. Luckily it paid off.
Within the first three years of its inception, Wengie was one of the fastest growing YouTube stars, with over 4 million subscribers as of 2016. In 2017 her channel won Best Channel and Overall Winner at the Australian Online Video Awards.
In 2018 she mainly focused on DIY, pranks and slime videos and as of January this year her channel was the sixth subscribed “how-to-and-style” channel on YouTube. As of December 2018, she had over 13 million subscribers and more than 1.2 billion views.
She created two more channels in 2013, including WengieVlogs (changed to “Wendie ft. Wengie” in October 2018) and Wengie Music Asia. As of December 2018, the channels had 1,941,147 subscribers, over 50 million views and 13,477,363 views respectively. The following year (2014), after creating her last two channels, Wengie created another one called Wonderful World of Wengie and launched the Wengie Music channel in 2018.
Wengie’s first single “Baby Believe Me” was released in China on July 13, 2017. She followed up with another song, “Oh I Do”, which she released on her YouTube channel Wengie Music Asia the same year – on November 25th. On July 10, 2018, she released her first English single titled “Cake” on her YouTube channel Wengie Music.
Plastic surgery
There have been rumors that the YouTube star had plastic surgery before and after the pictures and assess if this is the case. Though the speculation has never been confirmed, a look at her face after the alleged surgery reveals that Wengie most likely had a lachrymal sac injection, a nose job, a jaw shave, lip fillers, botox, and possibly double eyelid surgery. Unlike before, she now looks like an anime character with big eyes and a tiny chin.
Is she married, who is the boyfriend or husband?
The YouTube queen is not yet married but is currently engaged to a charming young man named Max. They started dating in 2011 and got engaged in August 2015. Max has appeared in many of Wengie’s YouTube videos. The couple also have a channel called “Reacticorns”.
