Under The Bridge Plot
Rebecca Godfrey’s 2005 true crime novel of the same name, which describes the 1997 murder of Reena Virk in British Columbia, is adapted into Under the Bridge. Virk, a 14-year-old South Asian girl from Canada, suffered severe bullying at the hands of her peers. On November 14, Virk was invited by a few classmates to a party by the Craigflower Bridge.
She was brutally beaten there by seven young girls and one teenage boy. Later, two of her attackers, 15-year-old Kelly Ellard and 16-year-old Warren Glowatski, attacked Virk once again as she attempted to walk home before drowning her.
Rebecca Godfrey will play a key role in the Hulu series. Deadline compared Godfrey’s interviewing of Dick Hickock and Perry Smith for In Cold Blood to that of Truman Capote. As the sole woman of color on the force and a police officer, Cam Bentland will also be a significant character in the narrative.

Under The Bridge Season 1 Production Crew
Little Fires Everywhere, a 2020 Hulu series starring Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, was created by Tigelaar. Quinn Shephard will also serve as executive producer and adaptor of Godfrey’s book. In 2017, Shephard, who was also the writer and actress of the film Blame, made her directorial debut at the age of 20.
Riley Keough, who will also be producing the show, told Gotham, “This is my first time producing a series, and it’s been an amazing experience.”
Under the Bridge enlisted Geeta Vasant Patel to direct its eight episodes. In addition, she will executive produce. Episodes of Dead to Me, Superstore, The Santa Clarita Diet, and House of the Dragon have all been directed by Patel.
Lastly, because Rebecca Godfrey died in November 2022 of lung cancer, her executive producer credit will be given posthumously.
