The siblings of Tupac Shakur have given their responses to the arrest of the suspected killer, Duane Keith “Keefe D” Davis.
Davis was apprehended on Friday, September 29, by Las Vegas Metropolitan police after being indicted by a grand jury on one count of murder with use of a deadly weapon, along with a gang enhancement.
Mopreme Shakur, speaking to TMZ, expressed his relief at the arrest, acknowledging the long wait for progress in the murder investigation. He emphasized that while the arrest is significant, it doesn’t equate to complete justice for Tupac. He also voiced the expectation of further arrests, possibly involving accomplices.
Mopreme expressed a desire for more details on the motive behind the 1996 murder, highlighting the recent contact from LVPD and the retired status of the initial contacting detective.
Meanwhile, police claimed that the killing was motivated by revenge following a confrontation between Tupac and his associates and Keefe D’s nephew after a Mike Tyson fight.
Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set,” also conveyed her reaction to TMZ, noting the significance of the moment and the historical silence surrounding the case in the community. She stressed the importance of acknowledging Tupac’s life and death and withheld final judgment until the completion of legal proceedings, expressing a need for justice across all facets of the situation.
