BIOGRAPHY
Troy Kotsur , born deaf, has been acting and directing for over 20 years. He studied theater, television and film at Gallaudet University from 1987 to 1989, and by 2001, he already had appearances in television. Much of his success is due to his highly respected theater career, for example, he starred in the Tony Award-winning Big River on Broadway and the 2015 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award-nominated Spring Awakening. . Over the years, he continued to appear as a guest star on shows such as Criminal Minds , CSI: NY , and had a recurring character on Sue Thomas: FB-Eye (2002-2005). Recently, he made headlines in 2019 for his performance in Disney+’s The Mandalorian (2019) because, along with the performance, he choreographed an adapted form of sign language for the series. Troy earned rave reviews for his starring role in the film CODA: Signs of the Heart (2021), which received the Best Ensemble award at Sundance.
