UNDERWORLD drug lord Tony Mokbel's ex-lover Danielle McGuire has had another day in court after being charged with handling stolen goods.
The glamorous McGuire was all smiles as she entered Melbourne Magistrates' Court with a friend to face the charge for the first time.
Police charged McGuire in December with a single charge of dishonestly retaining goods while believing them to be stolen.
Specifics of the alleged offending have not yet been made public by court documents reveal the allegedly stolen goods were electrical items.
McGuire's lawyer successfully applied to have the matter adjourned so discussions with prosecutors could continue.
McGuire came to prominence through her defacto relationship with Mokbel. In July 2006, she fled to Greece and lived with him as he tried to evade Victorian police, and gave birth to their daughter.
She named the baby after Renate Mokbel, Tony's sister-in-law and Danielle's former beauty salon business partner.
After splitting with Mokbel, McGuire was for some time in a relationship with former Bandido sergeant-at-arms Toby Mitchell.
McGuire was one of the first people to visit Mitchell in hospital after he survived one of two shooting attempts on his life.
She was last in court last year in a long-running battle to save a failed multimillion-dollar property development venture.
The development led to a fight over who controlled the company, and to claims that almost $1 million in purchasers' deposits had not been properly handled.
In a bitter civil court battle, Ms McGuire and former Mokbel associate Jacobus Smit were accused of muscling in on the multimillion-dollar complex.
The Supreme Court ultimately ruled that liquidators should be allowed to sell the property.
McGuire will reappear in court next month.
