Tommy Haas is a son of Brigitte and Peter Haas, who encouraged him to become a tennis player from an early age and became his coach. Tommy won his first youth tournament when he was five, and three years later another one in Munich. The famous tennis guru Nick Bollettieri spotted Tommy’s talents, and offered to train him at the Bollettieri Academy in Bradenton, Florida, free of charge.

Tommy spent some time on the sidelines with an injury, but returned at the Australian Open in January 2017.
