Todd Crawford Obituary, Death – The Dayton Art Institute is in mourning after learning of the passing of Todd Crawford, a long-time friend of the museum who also volunteered there. Crawford was an avid supporter of the institution. Since 2016, Todd has been a member of the DAI Associate Board, and during this time he has held duties such as Chair of the Art Ball in 2019 and Co-Chair of the Oktoberfest in 2023.
In addition, in 2019 he will serve as Chair of the DAI Associate Board’s Annual Meeting. During the nearly eight years that Todd served on the Associate Board, it is difficult to ascertain the exact number of hours that Todd offered his time to the museum or the amount of money that he contributed. Additionally, it is difficult to tell how much Todd contributed financially.
Every major event featured Todd as a consistent participant. He was the first volunteer to show up every time, and he was also the volunteer who occasionally stayed the longest. It was thanks in large part to Todd’s input that “Icon” was selected to serve as the theme for Art Ball in 2019. The event will center on using the entire structure as a source of artistic inspiration as its primary theme.
There isn’t any word that comes to mind that I think sufficiently characterizes Todd Crawford, so I’ll just stick with that. He was a true Icon of Dayton, and we will miss his leadership, friendship, and presence at the DAI very much. We will remember him with great fondness.
