At the age of 38, professional wrestling star Jay Briscoe, known for his association with Ring of Honor, has passed away.
Announcing the tragic news on social media, Tony Khan, the founder of AEW who acquired Ring of Honor last March, expressed his sorrow.
He wrote: “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today.
“Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin.”
According to pro wrestling insider Dave Meltzer, the wrestler was involved in a car accident in Delaware.
Jay Briscoe, whose real name is Jamin “Jay” Pugh, joined ROH in 2002 and formed a successful tag team with his brother, Mark, making history in pro wrestling.
The duo, known as “The Briscoe Brothers,” were renowned for their achievements as tag team partners.
Jay also had individual success, achieving the Ring of Honor world champion title on two separate occasions.
In 2022, Jay and Mark were inducted into the inaugural Hall of Fame class of Ring of Honor.
The news of Jay Briscoe’s passing has resulted in an outpouring of condolences and messages of sympathy.
