Anthony Santos, the lead vocalist and songwriter of Aventura, was born on 21 July 1981 in The Bronx of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent. He initiated his music career at the age of 12, singing in the church choir. Henry Santos, his cousin and the group’s vocalist, songwriter, and producer, was born on 15 December 1979 in Moca, Dominican Republic, and relocated to The Bronx at the age of 13. Max Santos, the band’s bassist, was born on 30 January 1982 in the South Bronx, also of Dominican heritage, and learned to play bass during his teenage years. Lenny Santos, the group’s guitarist, was born on 24 October 1979 in The Bronx, of Dominican background, also serving as the band’s musical producer.
In the early ’90s, the Santos siblings ventured into music creation with a vision to revolutionize Dominican bachata music by infusing it with other genres such as hip-hop and R&B. Discovered by artist promoter Elvin Polanco, the group, initially named Los Tinelles, aimed to blend Hispanic cultural roots with bachata and various musical styles to distinguish themselves from traditional bachata. They diversified their song themes from the typical melancholy of bachata to topics like love and seduction.
Following the release of their debut album “Trampa De Amor” in 1995 as Los Tinelles, Aventura’s first album, “Generation Next”, hit airwaves in 2000. Two years later, their album “We Broke the Rules” with the hit single “Obsession” skyrocketed them to fame, first within the Latin community and then globally. The overwhelming success of “Obsession” on various charts facilitated a seamless crossover into hip-hop, propelling the band to immense popularity and significantly augmenting their net worth.
Their third album, “Love & Hate”, followed in the subsequent year, with the release of the album “God’s Project” in 2005, further solidifying their reputation and enhancing their popularity with the track “Ella Y Yo” emerging as a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. The success continued as they generated nine more top ten hits, consolidating Aventura’s prominence and substantially increasing their wealth.
By the time their fifth and final album, “The Last”, was launched in 2009, it had soared to #1 on the Latin Billboard chart and #5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming the best-selling Latin album of the year and consequently boosting the group’s fortune. In addition to studio albums, Aventura also released three live albums during this period.
In 2011, the band disbanded; Romeo and Henry pursued solo careers, while Max and Lenny formed Grupo Vena alongside Steve Styles. The group briefly reunited in 2015, announcing a series of concerts in New York City during 2016.
When it comes to the personal lives of Aventura’s members, there is a lack of detailed information available through public sources.
