Bruce Willis As Korben Dallas
Korben Dallas, played by Bruce Willis, is a rude, down-on-his-luck cab driver. He was a soldier in the Federated Army's Special Forces and held the rank of Major prior to his tenure as a cab driver. When the Fifth Element, an enigmatic super being incarnated as a young woman, happens to tumble into his cab, his dull, routine life is turned upside down. He grows from a cynical, jaded cabbie to a selfless, heroic, and really loving guy at the end of the movie.

Milla Jovovich As Leeloo
Leeloo is the human version of the Fifth Element, a mysterious intergalactic super being tasked with defeating "The Great Wicked," an enormously strong, evil creature. She was recreated by human scientists from the original Fifth Element's severed forearm, and being the avatar of a supernatural force of good, she possesses incredible strength, agility, stamina, intelligence, and is an unrivaled combatant. Despite all of these traits, she is capable of demonstrating tremendous emotional fragility, expressing deep regret when she learns about humanity's violence and selfishness against one another.

Gary Oldman As Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg
Mr. Zorg is played by Gary Oldman, an avaricious, wholly amoral industrialist and military technology developer. Because Zorg has no respect for human life, it's no wonder that The Great Evil, an eldritch being of pure devastation and death, approaches him to recruit him as a human agent to carry out his evil plans.

Ian Holm As Vito Cornelius
A priest from an old organization dedicated to the worship of extraterrestrials who landed on Earth millennia ago. He is well-versed in ancient knowledge and speaks Leeloo's native language, which is referred to in the film as the Divine Language. Fr. Cornelius is the one who tells Korben about The Great Evil's presence, the four elemental stones, and how to vanquish The Great Evil.

Chris Tucker As Ruby Rhod
Ruby Rhod, the ultra-flamboyant, larger-than-life television personality, is brought to life by Chris Tucker. Despite the fact that we now have faster-than-light space travel and near-miracle medical technology, it appears that radio is still the preferred form of mass media for the Federated Territories' population of over fifty billion people. Ruby Rhod is the unquestioned king of the airwaves. When he assists in the activation of the Elemental Stones, he unknowingly becomes one of the universe's saviors.

Charlie Creed-Miles As David
David is an acolyte of Fr. Cornelius' old order of priesthood, and he is being groomed to be his future successor. He accidentally activates one of the Elemental Stones, revealing how to access their latent power to the rest of Korben's crew.

Maïwenn Le Besco As Diva Plavalaguna
Alien Diva/Diva Plavalaguna is played by Mawenn Le Besco, while Albanian Opera Singer Inva Mula-Tchako sings her solo/operatic piece. She is revered in the film's universe almost as a spiritual leader, and she is shown to have a deep, almost mystic understanding of the Leeloo/The Fifth Element, stating that she will not be able to defeat The Great Evil on her own, and that she will need Korben's support—-and love—-to reach her full potential. The Mondoshawans have entrusted the Diva with the job of safeguarding the four Elemental Stones, which are required to activate the Fifth Element's enigmatic power.
