In a recent statement, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, urged patience with President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda, emphasizing that significant results may take more time to materialize.
Malagi stressed that the president’s vision aims to lead Nigeria towards “the desired prosperity” but cautioned that meaningful change requires ample time to establish strong foundations.
During an appearance on Channels TV Sunrise Daily, the minister pointed out, “I want you to remember that the President is seven months old in office. I am not going to make excuses that seven months is just a short time.”
He added, “But for a long-term plan, you need a lot more time to put structures in place. But of course, as you trudge along, there will be shocks, turbulence, and occasional dislocations that you would find. But the vision of the president is very clear: he wants to take Nigeria to the desired prosperity.”
It’s worth noting that President Tinubu had announced the removal of fuel subsidy during his inauguration address on May 29, 2023, highlighting a strategic shift in resource allocation towards public infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation.
Malagi also outlined the Nigerian vision, emphasizing the goals of safety, security, equity, and meritocracy, while acknowledging that substantial progress is an arduous process that cannot be fully achieved within seven months.
