Connor Smith, a former participant of “Are You the One?”, has been taken into custody over allegations related to rape.
The 31-year-old reality TV personality was apprehended on December 16 in Oak Lawn, Ill., based on a warrant from Lake County, Ind., according to a spokesperson for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
The warrant was issued in response to accusations of rape, criminal confinement, and sexual battery. Specific details of the allegations were not disclosed and representatives at the Lake County Indiana State Attorney’s Office were not immediately reachable.
However, documents obtained by TMZ alleged that the purported incident began when a 16-year-old girl shared her address with an individual selling a cat via Snapchat.
The teenager claimed that the man forcibly took her from her room and transported her to a motel, where she was sexually assaulted.
Subsequent interviews with the police revealed that the teenager had initially met the alleged attacker on a dating app and willingly left her home to meet him.
According to the young woman, she was then subjected to further coercion and assault before the man ultimately returned her home.
Smith was arrested as his vehicle matched the description provided by eyewitnesses. A representative for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office informed Page Six that the former MTV star was incarcerated in Cook County Jail on December 17 and is currently being held without bond.
In 2015, Connor Smith appeared on Season 3 of “Are You the One?”, a reality show where single contestants tried to find their perfect match.
