Celebrities and fans of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, marked his 28th posthumous birthday on Wednesday. They took to social media to celebrate the artiste who would have turned 28 today if he were still alive.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records owned by Naira Marley, passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023.
Following contentious debates surrounding Mohbad’s death, the Lagos State Police Command set up an investigative team days after his passing to unravel the cause of his death. On September 21, 2023, his body was exhumed for autopsy.
It was also reported that a nurse who treated the deceased singer before his demise was arrested for allegedly injecting him.
On September 21, 2023, hours after Mohbad’s autopsy, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the autopsy had been concluded and was awaiting results.
The result of the autopsy is yet to be officially released till now.
Celebrities and friends of Mohbad took to social media to honor his memory. Big Brother Naija’s former housemate, Tasha, posted a picture of Mohbad with the caption “Happy Birthday Mohbad 🤍🕊”
Another friend and musician, Bella Shmurda, also posted Mohbad’s picture on his Instagram handle (Bella_Shmurda), saying, “Happy posthumous birthday my brother my friend Oba Imole💡. Rest in power💐❤. Love u forever and I miss u💔”
Musician, Bad Boy Timz, posted a video of him and Mohbad with the caption “Happy Posthumous Birthday my Friend Mohbad Oba Imole! If I knew this was the last time I’d see you, I would’ve stayed a little longer! I’ll love & celebrate you forever my soldier 🕊🕯❤”
Other celebrities and fans also expressed their love and admiration for Mohbad on social media, remembering him on his posthumous birthday.
In October 2023, the then Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, named prime suspects linked to the death of the singer and disclosed further details about his medical treatment before his demise.
Despite appeals from the singer’s friends and family, the release of Mohbad’s autopsy report and body experienced prolonged delays, with the police stating that they had yet to officially receive the report.
After further inquiries, it was revealed that only the singer’s family lawyer could request the release of the autopsy result or it would be independently given to the police when ready.
