Teacher jailed for using camera pen to take ‘upskirting’ photos of school students and staff

A teacher has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for taking “upskirting” photos of high school students using a camera pen.

31-year-old Jeffrey Wilson secretly took photos up the skirts of students and teachers using a pen with a concealed camera. His crimes took place at two schools – Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech, and Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge.

Following the discovery that an IP address linked to Wilson’s viewing of thousands of indecent images of children online, including Category A images, police conducted a warrant at his home in March, Cambridgeshire, on February 11th of this year.

During the raid, detectives seized electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops, USB sticks, and tablets from Wilson’s residence. Subsequently, a total of 45 “upskirting” images taken over a six-month period from April to September 2019 were found on the devices, coinciding with the time Wilson worked at the schools. Furthermore, authorities discovered a pen with a concealed camera and a hidden camera inside a clock that Wilson used to film women undressing in his home.

A staggering 53,000 indecent images or videos of children were uncovered on the electronic devices seized from Wilson’s home.

Appearing at Peterborough Crown Court on August 30th, Wilson pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of voyeurism, and two counts of recording images under clothing without consent.

In addition to his one-year prison sentence, he was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

DC Keith Evans commented on the case, stating: “This was a truly disturbing case. Wilson abused his position of trust by violating both colleagues and students for his own gratification.”

He added, “His behaviour towards the woman he secretly filmed at his home was also disgusting. I’m pleased that his offenses have been uncovered and that he has faced justice.”

“These images were taken without the knowledge of the victims and it is impossible to identify them. Wilson’s actions will inevitably cause a great deal of distress to pupils, their parents, and staff at the schools.”
