Taraba Deputy Gov calls for provision of essential facilities for border communities


The call for the provision of essential facilities for border communities was made by the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, during a workshop organized by the National Boundary Commission. This workshop was attended by six deputy governors representing states that share borders with Cameroon, including Adamawa, Benue, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Borno, and Taraba.

Alkali emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing challenges faced by communities along the Nigeria-Cameroon international border. As the chairman of the State Boundary Committee, he stressed the need for proactive measures to protect these communities from encroachments and strengthen their resilience against border-related challenges. He highlighted the crucial role of such measures in enhancing the capabilities of local border authorities.

Expressing gratitude to the National Boundary Commission for its support, Alkali specifically commended the commission’s timely intervention in recent border crises affecting communities in Taraba and Gombe states. He underscored the significance of the collaborative endeavor between the deputy governors and the National Boundary Commission in advancing robust border management strategies and fostering peaceful coexistence among regions sharing international boundaries.
