The Bauchi State Police Command has mobilized its personnel to various locations in anticipation of the Supreme Court’s judgment on the state governorship election. The police have issued a warning against any form of celebrations or rallies by political party supporters, regardless of their stance on the winners or losers of the gubernatorial election petition judgment. Superintendent Ahmed Wakili, the command’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement released to journalists on Friday.
In the statement, it was disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, has instructed all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers to intensify confidence-building patrols and prevent attacks on citizens, as well as crack down on any violators.
The statement emphasized that any celebrations or rallies by political party supporters related to the Gubernatorial Election Petition judgment from the Supreme Court must not infringe on the rights of others. It also warned against blockage of roads, fireworks, inciting utterances, or blackmailing the opposition party, as such behavior would not be tolerated. The command issued a clear warning that anyone or any group found violating this order or causing a breakdown of law and order would be decisively dealt with.
Furthermore, the statement noted that those found in violation would be arrested and face the full force of the law, as security agencies have been deployed strategically and directed to ensure full enforcement.
