Sule Lamido’s Advice: Jigawa PDP’s Response to NWC

In a statement issued on Friday, Isah Bello, Secretary of the Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called upon the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, to attentively consider the advice offered by Sule Lamido, emphasizing its significance in fostering the unity and advancement of the party.

It was reported that the NWC had criticized Sule Lamido, a former Governor of Jigawa State, for his recent remarks concerning the crisis in River State.

Retaliating against the NWC, the Jigawa PDP expressed, “We have observed with concern the unfolding discord within the Rivers State PDP and the broader political landscape in recent weeks.

“We have also closely followed the developments that led to the opportunistic involvement of President Tìnubu under the guise of resolving the dispute.

“In light of these developments, our leader, Dr. Sule Lamido, a founding father of the party, recognized the indecisiveness of our NWC and voiced his genuine and sincere concerns, seeking immediate action from them.

“Instead of heeding his paternal guidance, the NWC, through the National Publicity Secretary, opted to issue a disrespectful press statement against our leader.

“The Jigawa State PDP chapter and all stakeholders strongly disapprove of the NWC’s disrespectful actions towards our esteemed leader.

“While it is understandable that the composition and dynamics of the NWC may be pardoned due to its gaps in the historical formation of the PDP, the NWC members should be reminded that many elders took significant risks, even facing imprisonment, to pave the way for them to assume the positions they currently hold. The insinuation that Dr. Sule Lamido is working for the APC is a wholly baseless claim.

“In Jigawa, we have been raised to advocate for the common man and justice. This struggle is ingrained in our political DNA. We will spare no effort in defending our leader.

“The primary responsibility of the NWC is to serve, safeguard, and advance the fortunes of our great party, rather than providing a source of livelihood.

“We urge the NWC members to heed the advice provided by Dr. Sule Lamido.”
