As a Turkish evacuation plane sought to land in Khartoum today, it was targeted and shot at by Sudan’s paramilitary forces, damaging its fuel supply.

The army reported that the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fired at the aircraft at the Wadi Saeedna airbase, indicating the perilous conditions faced by those endeavoring to evacuate civilians from the conflict-ridden nation.

Despite the attack, the plane successfully landed and is currently undergoing repairs, according to Sudan’s army.

Initial reports suggested that a crew member sustained injuries in the assault, but Turkey’s defense ministry countered, stating that no injuries were sustained, although confirming that the plane had come under fire.

Contradicting the army’s account, the RSF denied any involvement in the attack and accused the army of spreading falsehoods, stating, “Our forces have strictly adhered to the humanitarian ceasefire agreed upon since midnight, and it is untrue that we targeted any aircraft in the skies of Wadi Seyidna in Omdurman.”
