Slim Jimmy is half of the famous rap duo RaeSremmurd, the other half, was Swae Lee, his younger brother. After rising to fame in their hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi, they shot to fame in 2014 with their hit single No Flex Zone, which caught the attention of established rappers such as Nicki Minaj and Pusha T.
The brothers have had great success with their music. In 2016, they received the BET Best Group award and the following year their single “Black Beatles” (Gucci Mane) won the Billboard Music Award for Best Collaboration.

Slim Jimmy, also spelled as Slim Jxmmy was born as Aaquil Iben Shamon Brown on December 29, 1991 in Inglewood, California. His younger brother, Swae Lee, was born on June 7, 1995 as Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown. They have an older brother called Micheal.
A few years after Swae Lee was born, their father abandoned the family leaving their mother Bernadette Walker in the sole care of the boys. Walker worked with the U.S. military, so he often had to move his family.
From California, they lived in Mississippi and then Maryland, before settling in Texas. By the time they were in Texas, Jimmy and his brother were in college and had already developed a passion for music.
They soon returned to Mississippi where their mother’s lover-turned-husband, Floyd Sullivan, lived. Meanwhile, their mother had left the army. The boys grew up in the infamous Ida Street housing projects in Tupelo, Mississippi.
In order to support the family, their stepfather Floyd Sullivan sold drugs. He later had one child, Floyd Jr. Sullivan. with their mother.
Slim Jimmy and his brother developed their music as they grew up. They were first part of a trio “Dem Outta St8 Boyz” which they formed by bringing in their friend Jemiah Middlebrooks.
In order to fund their passion for music, Jimmy and his brother worked a number of odd jobs. After the father figure in their lives no longer became like he had separated from their mother, Jimmy and his brother got a little serious with school and turned their full attention to music.
This had the effect of keeping up late nights, which didn’t sit well with their mother. After countless warnings, Bernadette Walker kicked her two sons out of the house. They were left to live in an abandoned building with a friend of their stepfather.
With their mother out of their way, Slim Jimmy and his brother honed their musical skills and released the song “Party Animal” which turned them into local stars. They then successfully auditioned for 106 & Park’s “Wild Out Wednesday” segment.
However, it wasn’t until 2013 that Jimmy and his brother began to find success with their music. It all started after a friend, P-Nazty, introduced them to Mike Will Made-It, who was signing them to his Interscope imprint Ear Drummers label. Slim Jimmy and his brother then adopted the name Rae Sremmurd, which is a semordnilap from Ear Drummers.
Their first official single, ‘No Flex Zone’, was a hit and the two brothers have since continued to prove they are far from a miracle.

Today, the brothers can only look back on their difficult days, because they are well behind them. They saw a number of their singles go platinum including ‘No Type’, ‘No Flex Zone’ and ‘Swang’.

He simply wrote; “I have a child on the way” without giving any details on the identity of the mother or on the expected date of the baby’s arrival.
