BIOGRAPHY
Sheila Atim is a British actress, singer and playwright, born in January 1991, in Uganda. Barely when she was five months old, her mother settled in England, where she grew up in Rainham, London, and studied at the Coopers’ Company and Coborn School. In her teens, she did some modeling work and, by 17, she appeared at London Fashion Week, in a presentation organized by the British Fashion Council, which had the idea of showcasing real women. Although she was more interested in acting, she found it difficult to be cast in commercials, so she determined to train as an actress at the Weekend Arts Centre, after obtaining a diploma in biomedical science from King’s College London. She had her professional debut as an actress thanks to one of her teachers, Ché Walker, who gave her her first roles in plays presented at the Shakespeare Globe Theatre. Featured in works such as The Lightning Child and Ghost Town , in addition to being a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Atim began to achieve great success in starring roles in favorably received plays, generally being the most acclaimed element of the cast. This led her to receive several offers to develop her talent in film and television, where she has stood out in series such as Harlots (2018), Bounty Hunters (2019), The Irregulars (2021) and The Underground Railroad (2021).
