Ryan Reaves Biography

Ryan was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on January 20, 1987. Born to African-Canadian father Willard Reaves and mother Brenda Reaves, Reaves is Canadian and of African-Canadian ethnicity. His father was known for his professional soccer skills in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the National Football League (NFL). When Ryan was born, his father was part of a Canadian team called the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.. Ryan Reaves has a younger brother, Jordan, who plays for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, a Canadian professional soccer team based in Regina, Saskatchewan that plays in the West Division of the Canadian Football League.

Talking about his education, Reaves attended St. John’s-Ravenscourt School where he got a better opportunity to start his hockey career playing for the school’s team for the first time. It was also at school that he developed his passion for ice hockey, which he nurtured from an early age.

NHL career

Having started his career at St. John’s-Ravenscourt of Classical Academy High School (CAHS), Reaves made his NHL debut in the 2010-2011 season with the St. Louis Blues in the fifth round (#156 in the rankings general) of the 2005 NHL Draft, but before that date he was signed with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the major junior league called Western Hockey League (WHL) and with them he spent three seasons. After working with the St. Louis Blues, he moved to the Peoria Rivermen of AHL. but the Blues later recalled him to Peoria on October 10, 2010. On January 12, 2011, after playing two games with the Blues, he made a spectacular comeback in Peoria by scoring his first NHL goal on January 12, 2011. It was in a game against the Swiss hockey goalie ice, Jonas Hiller of the Anaheim Ducks.

On June 23, 2017, the big right-wing law enforcement official was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins where he had four goals and eight points in 58 games. Among the goals scored, he scored against Vegas where he later moved. Reaves was traded with a second-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft in exchange for Oskar Sundqvist and the Penguins’ first-round pick (31st overall) in the 2017 draft. On February 23, 2018, the Pittsburgh Penguins traded Reaves for Tobias Lindberg of the Vegas Golden Knights and he scored against the Winnipeg Jets who qualified his team for the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals.
