Following the bombing attack that killed prominent pro-war blogger Vladlen Tatarsky in St. Petersburg, Russia has accused Ukraine and arrested a suspect.
Russian authorities have alleged that Ukraine, with the support of Alexiy Navalny’s backers, was involved in the bombing attack that resulted in the death of Tatarsky and injured over 30 individuals.
While officials in Kyiv and Western military analysts suggest the incident could stem from internal rifts, Russian Investigative Committee has arrested a woman, Daria Trepova, in connection with Tatarsky’s death, without citing evidence or details about her.
Subsequently, Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee accused Ukraine’s security services and “agents” affiliated with Alexei Navalny’s organization, while Kyiv hinted at a potential case of “domestic terrorism.”
Reports emerged that a woman allegedly handed Tatarsky a bust of himself containing explosives shortly before the blast.
Tatarsky, known also as Maxim Fomin, gained fame for his reports from the Ukrainian front lines and his support for Moscow’s war strategy, amassing over half a million followers on Telegram.
Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakhorova commented on the incident, while an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attributed it to “domestic terrorism.”
Several videos capturing the events leading up to and following the explosion were shared on various platforms.
