RTEAN has appointed Adesina Hussaini, also known as Okanlomo, as the chairman of the association in Lagos State. The union also announced the dissolution of the 35-member Lagos State RTEAN executive council. The RTEAN National President, Musa Muhammed, made the announcement in a statement released to journalists on Saturday.
In compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding dated October 2, 2023, between the Federal Government of Nigeria and organized labor, the RTEAN dissolved the former structure of Lagos State executives council members and adopted the appointment of Adeshina Hussaini as the chairman of the Lagos State branch.
The union also recalled all suspended members for the sake of peace and harmony in the state. The RTEAN General Secretary, Yusuf Adeniyi, emphasized that the appointment of Adesina Hussaini as the new chairman and the return of RTEAN’s operations in all motor parks in Lagos State will be effective from January 1, 2024.
The Federal Government’s resolution brought an end to the 15-month-long dispute between the RTEAN and the Lagos State Government. The ban on RTEAN’s activities in Lagos State has been lifted, and a new leadership has been appointed for the union in the state.
The intervention of the Federal Government, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding, aimed to facilitate a peaceful resolution of the issues and ensure adherence to the rule of law.
