BIOGRAPHY
Robert Englund began his career in the theater, where he enjoyed success for several years, before turning to cinema. Her very
first audition landed her an important role in Daniel Petrie ‘s Buster and Billie (1974) . During the 1970s, he toured under the direction of great directors such as Robert Aldrich ( The City of Dangers ), Bob Rafelson ( Stay Hungry ), Jack Lee Thompson ( Mister St. Ives ) and John Milius ( Graffiti Party ). Seeking to alternate registers, in 1984 he auditioned for the young director of a low-budget horror film. His interview with Wes Craven landed him the role of Freddy Krueger in Nightcrawler . By giving life to this nightmarish creature with a striped sweater and sharp claws, he achieved international fame. The colossal success of the film led to seven sequels: Freddy’s Revenge (1985), Freddy 3: Nightmare’s Claws (1987), Freddy’s Nightmare (1988), Freddy 5: Nightmare Child (1989), Freddy’s Dead : the final nightmare (1991), Freddy comes out of the night (1994) and Freddy against Jason (2003), where he faces the famous killer in the hockey mask, as well as a television series: Freddy’s Nightmares . At the same time, Robert Englund became familiar with the general public by starring in the television series V , where he played Willie, the friendly alien. Very often confined to the register of horror and B series, he makes a winking appearance as a high school teacher in the slasher movie Urban Legend (1998).
