Rita Ora is a British actress, singer and songwriter whose rise to fame was sparked in February 2012 by her performance in the music video DJ Fresh ‘s Hot Now ; a single that peaked at number one in the UK Singles Chart.
In August of that year, Rita Ora debuted her studio album Ora which made her the most singles artist on the UK Singles Chart of 2012. Rita Sahatçiu Ora was born in Pristina, Kosovo on 26. November 1990, as the second child of three children. She has an older sister named Elena and a younger brother named Don. Her surname is said to be derived from the Turkish word saatçi which means watchmaker, but her family decided to make it easier to pronounce by adding ora. She grew up in Notting Hill, west London, where she completed her primary education at St Cuthbert’s at St Matthias Primary School, Earls Court. To further her singing talents and her career as an entertainer, she enrolled at the Sylvia Young Theater School.
As for her ethnicity, Rita Ora revealed in one of her interviews that it is 100 percent from Kosovo. In other words, she is a native Albanian.

Ora was raised by her Albanian parents, Vera and Besnik Sahatçiu, along with her siblings in the UK. Her father is an economist and owns a licensed public house, while her mother is a psychiatrist. The family moved to West London during the political persecution of Albanians from Kosovo. Ora was only one year old at the time. Her older sister Elena is also part of Ora’s career management team.

career
Rita Ora started her singing career doing music videos and as a backing vocalist for artists like James Morrison. Her first musical appearance was in Craig David’s titles Awkward and Where’s Your Love? in 2007 and 2008 respectively. She attended and qualified for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest audition, but later withdrew from the competition because she did not feel ready. Her initial goal was to become a solo artist, and according to her manager, Sarah Stennett, the competition would have stymied those chances.
Ora also appeared briefly in music videos such as Jay Z ‘s Young Forever (2009) and Drake’s About (2010). She previously signed a recording and publishing deal with an American label, Roc Nation, from which she recorded an album in 2008 and wanted to release it, but her label advised against it. Rather than give up, Ora began working on other materials, and by 2011 she opened a YouTube channel where she posted covers and videos about the work on her debut album.
This caught the attention of DJ Fresh, who was looking for a female singer for his song. Hot now then. It became a breakout song for Ora as the single, released on February 12, 2012, was a huge hit; it debuted at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart.
