Rick Froberg Obituary and Funeral

American musician and visual artist Eric “Rick” Froberg also went by the aliases Rick Fork and Rick Farr.

Rick Froberg was raised in Brooklyn and Encinitas, California, before being born in Los Angeles.

With guitarist John Reis, Froberg co-founded the well-known post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu in the late 1980s, which marked the beginning of his musical career.

Intricate guitar work, powerful rhythms, and Froberg’s distinctive vocal delivery made up the band’s sophisticated and dynamic sound, which won the group praise from critics and a devoted following.

Before breaking up in 1995, Drive Like Jehu put out the well-regarded albums “Yank Crime” (1994) and a self-titled LP (1991).

Froberg and Reis started Hot Snakes in 1999, following the dissolution of Drive Like Jehu.

After passing away on June 30, 2023. His longtime bandmate John Reis announced his passing on Instagram on Saturday, writing that he “passed away suddenly last night from natural causes.”

Unfortunately, Rick Froberg died on June 30th, 2023. He was 55 years old.
