In a significant gesture, a major road in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has been dedicated to the memory of late Dr. Stella Adadevoh, the physician who played a pivotal role in averting an Ebola epidemic in Nigeria in 2014.
The road, situated along Ahmadu Bello Way near the Nigerian Air Force Conference Centre, has been renamed in honor of Adadevoh, approximately six years following her passing from the disease in Lagos.
Adadevoh tragically lost her life in August 2014 while preventing a Liberian man, Patrick Sawyerr, from leaving her hospital after she diagnosed him with the deadly Ebola virus.
Numerous appeals have been made by the Nigerian public for the government to appropriately recognize the late medical doctor’s contributions.
