A new indictment and charges have been announced by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office against the rapper Young Thug.
The artist, also known as Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams, is currently in custody after being denied bond following his indictment on RICO charges along with Gunna and 26 other associates. The 88-page grand-jury indictment labeled the YSL collective as a “criminal street gang.”
Prosecutors have alleged their involvement in murder, robbery, and other organized crime activities. Young Thug and Gunna have strongly refuted the accusations made against them.
According to a report from WSBTV, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office filed a new indictment in the RICO case against the Atlanta rapper. The latest filing reportedly “includes all 28 defendants from the May indictment.” However, the new charges are only directed at Young Thug and four other defendants.
While the new indictment still centers on the YSL collective, the District Attorney’s office “believes these charges reinforce the prosecution’s assertion that Williams functioned for years as a leader of a criminal street gang.”
WSBTV reports the new charges encompass “a new gang charge, new drug charges, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a machine gun.” A majority of the new charges are related to the search of Young Thug’s residence on the night of his arrest in May.
Prosecutor Don Geary reveals that two other defendants, including Yak Gotti, face machine gun charges. All the defendants have entered pleas of not guilty.
