Petra Kvitova, a two-time grand slam champion, announces pregnancy


The 33-year-old Czech tennis player and two-time Grand Slam champion, Petra Kvitova, has revealed that she is pregnant with her first child. She shared this exciting news on her social media pages at the beginning of the New Year.

Accompanying her announcement with photos, Kvitova expressed, “On the first day of 2024 I wanted to wish you a happy new year and share the exciting news that Jiri and I will be welcoming a baby into our family this summer!”

The professional tennis player, currently ranked 17th, exchanged vows with Jiri Vanek, her long-time coach, in July 2023. Kvitova boasts an impressive record, having triumphed at Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014.

Kvitova was listed to participate in the Australian Open, but it remains uncertain how her pregnancy will impact her plans for the tournament, which is set to kick off on January 14th.
