Before pursuing acting in New York City, Boyle worked as a postal worker, waiter, and bouncer while taking acting classes. He started his acting career with a touring production of Neil Simon’s play “The Odd Couple” and later joined Chicago’s “Second City” improvisational comedy troupe.

Boyle’s film debut was in the 1968 film “The Virgin President”, and his breakthrough role came in the 1970 film “Joe” where he played a construction worker. He continued to secure roles in various films, gaining recognition and steadily increasing his net worth.
