She became the first woman to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue at the age of 18, from Central Europe. Pavlína Elisa Pořízková was born on April 9, 1965 in Prostějov, Czechoslovakia. Her parents flew to Lund, Sweden when she was a little girl to escape the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion. After that, she revealed that she grew up under the care of her grandmother. She has dual nationality in both Sweden and the United States.
In addition, her parents divorced when she was little and fought for custody of Paulina. Her mother won custody and then her father refused to pay child support and had severed all ties with them. Also, she didn’t have a good life during her growing up days, plus she was bullied in her school years. At the age of 15, her friend from high school did her makeup and then sent her photos to the modeling agency.

After receiving an invitation from Paris to start her modeling career, she moved there in the early 1980s. She went on to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine in 1983 and in Sports Illustrated magazine in 1984. As mentioned above, she married Ric Ocasek, the American singer of the band called The Carson on August 23, 1989. The couple met while filming the music video for her song ‘Drive’. The couple welcomed two children together and finalized the divorce in 2017. Additionally, Ocasek was an American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and known as the frontman of the rock band Cars.
In addition, the singer was found dead in his apartment while divorce proceedings were still underway. After that, the model suffered from severe depression. Before he died shortly after the surgery, Ric said in his will that Paulina had abandoned him at his most vulnerable moment.
