Osun State Welcomes New Commissioner of Police


CP Bzigu Kwazhi has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Osun State, replacing CP Isyaku Mohammed who assumed office on November 10, 2023.

According to a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, the new CP reported at the state police command in Osogbo on Thursday, following the recent redeployment of CP Isyaku Mohammed.

Opalola disclosed that the new CP was born in Mildu Shalmi, Madagali L.G.A of Adamawa State and holds a B.A in History/Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. Additionally, he is an alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.

CP Kwazhi joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 1992 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Cadet ASP) and has served in various capacities in different states of the country and outside Nigeria.

His experience within the Nigeria Police includes roles in the Administration, Operations, and Investigations departments, as well as serving as a Contingent Commander for Nigeria Formed Police Units to the United Nations Mission in Liberia. He has also held the positions of Pioneer Police Logistics Officer/NCC, Team Coordinator for an ECOWAS mission in Guinea Bissau, and Chief of Training at the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, FHQ Abuja.
