Victor Osimhen, the talented striker for the Super Eagles, has shown his love for the Nigeria U20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, by extending an invitation to their captain, Daniel Bameyi, to join the Eagles camp in Lagos.
Osimhen, the top scorer in the Italian Serie A, explained that he was impressed by Bameyi’s leadership qualities both on and off the pitch, as well as his contributions to the country during the recent World Cup in Argentina. He encouraged the young player to stay focused, assuring him of a bright future.
“I would like to express my gratitude and celebrate the Flying Eagles for bringing joy and pride to Nigerians at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina,” Osimhen expressed.
“I invited you to the Super Eagles camp to show my appreciation and celebrate you in front of the team. I also want to take this opportunity to let you know that the world recognized your quality and leadership skills.”
Bameyi, known as ‘Big Engine’ by Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso for his exceptional ability to play various positions such as right and left back, central defender, and defensive midfielder, was named as the best passer and best marker in three different matches during the 2023 U20 World Cup in Argentina, according to FIFA.
Additionally, Bameyi was called up to the Super Eagles camp for the African Nations Cup qualifiers against Guinea Bissau on MatchDay 3 and 4. He earned his first cap for the Super Eagles in a match against Costa Rica.
