Ortom: PDP G5 to back Tinubu’s re-election in 2027

Samuel Ortom, the former Governor of Benue State, announced that the PDP G5 group is in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. The group stands firmly by their decision to support the president in the last poll.

Ortom conveyed this message on Sunday at a luncheon organized by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his Port Harcourt residence.

Prior to the presidential election, Ortom and other members of the PDP G5 group including former governors Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi, Nyesom Wike, and Governor Seyi Makinde, rejected Atiku Abubakar as the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate and pledged their support to a southern candidate.

The election result saw President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress emerge victorious.

While Wike joined Tinubu’s cabinet, Ortom, Ikpeazu, and Ugwanyi all lost their senatorial bids.

Speaking at the luncheon, Ortom announced that the PDP G5 group will once again throw their weight behind the former Lagos governor for a second term as Nigeria’s President.

Ortom stated, “If we work to ensure Bola Ahmed succeeds, there will be tomorrow for anybody to even contest the election at all.

“Our leader, Nyesom Wike, has already made a declaration that in 2027, we are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We have nowhere to go because that is what Nigerians believe. Even the past administration that took Nigeria from top to bottom, we allowed them to work for eight years. So, why can’t a seasoned administrator in the person President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rule us for eight years?” he asked.
