Ophélie Bau began studying nursing in Montpellier before joining the Cours Florent with the aim of becoming an actress. While trying her luck for a small role in the France 2 series Candice Renoir , the young woman was spotted by Abdellatif Kechiche ‘s casting director . If she was not selected for the police show, she caught the eye of the director who wanted to meet her.
The latter, seduced by the naturalness of this buxom beauty, offered her one of the main roles in the sulphurous Mektoub My Love, Canto Uno . The actress plays the incandescent Ophélie Padovani, whose best friend, Amin (played by Shaïn Boumedine ), is secretly in love. The performance of the young actress made an impression, so much so that she was nominated for the César for Most Promising Actress in 2019.
Ophélie Bau continued her career in a discreet manner, but still landed notable roles. She plays, in the chilling Vaurien , a young woman with a strong character living in a squat, who falls in love with an attractive man who turns out to be a serial killer ( Pierre Deladonchamps ). In 2022, she is seen in the drama Fires in the Night , set in a fishing village in the 16th century.
