NIPR’s Determination to Eradicate Unlicensed Practitioners

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is taking a strong stance against unlicensed practitioners who are tarnishing the reputation of the institution.

The NIPR has also expressed concern over individuals masquerading as practitioners without the necessary licenses. The institute has announced that the deadline for compliance and enforcement is January 1, 2024, and emphasized that time is running out.

Addressing a sizable group of 327 newly-inducted members at an event in Abuja, the President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, highlighted the growing importance of the public relations profession in nation-building. He urged the new members to play their part in reshaping the country’s reputation.

Neliaku announced, “Effective January, an enforcement and compliance committee led by Gen. Chris Olukolade (retd.) will initiate a crackdown on unlicensed practitioners who are tarnishing the integrity of the institution.”

Out of the inductees, 250 have backgrounds in Mass Communication and Journalism, while 77 completed an intensive training master class.

Emphasizing the crucial role of public relations in nation-building, Neliaku stressed the need for collaboration with the government and private sectors to improve Nigeria’s reputation. He also highlighted the establishment of the Nigeria Reputation Management Group and the ongoing ‘Rebirth’ Nigeria program aimed at reinventing the nation’s essence, beauty, integrity, resourcefulness, tradition, and heritage.

Neliaku urged all patriotic Nigerians to join forces with the institute in carrying out this important task.
