Michael Joseph Glennon was born on December 12, 1989 in Conroe, Montgomery County, Texas. However, he had his high school education at Westfield High School in Fairfax County, Virginia, where he was a multi-athlete who dabbled in football and basketball. He was an outstanding student and led his team to winning the Virginia Division 6 AAA State Championship in his senior year.
That year, he completed 171 of 265 passes for 2,557 yards and 32 touchdowns while the school went unbeaten all season. In recognition of his outstanding individual achievements, Glennon was named Virginia Player of the Year by the Associated Press. In 2007, he was named Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year and ranked the third best quarterback in the country by Rivals.com and ESPN.com.
For his college education, Mike Glennonan attended North Carolina State University, where he spent a total of five years from 2008 to 2012. Mike Glennon entered the 2013 NFL Draft and was picked in the third round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was the 73rd overall pick of that year’s draft and the Buccaneers signed a four-year contract valued at $3,104,063. Glennon came to the NFL with a bang, completing 247 of 416 attempts (59.4%) for 2,608 yards, 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his first season.
He set a record as the first rookie in NFL history to throw at least one touchdown in each of his first eight career starts and was subsequently named an all-rookie team by PFWA, ProFootballFocus.com and ESPN.com. In his sophomore season, Glennon didn’t see much playing time but still managed to complete 117 of 203 attempts (57.6%) for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.
