BIOGRAPHY
Born in Alabama, Michael Biehn aspired to become an actor very early on. Two years after taking theater classes at university, he decided to go to Hollywood, where he managed to obtain small roles on television and in the cinema (he notably played a football player hit by John Travolta in Grease ) . In 1981, he landed a larger role in Fanatic , alongside Lauren Bacall and James Garner . But it was in 1984 that his career took a most significant turn, James Cameron allowing him to play one of the main characters in Terminator (Kyle Reese, John Connor’s father).

From then on, Michael Biehn became a sure bet in the cinema of the 1980s, and more particularly in the science fiction genre. James Cameron called on him again in Aliens Return (1986) and Abyss (1989), two emblematic films of this decade. But these performances lock it too much into the register of SF. At the beginning of the 1990s, the actor tried to renew himself by headlining several action films ( Les Meilleurs , TimeBomb , K2 , Tombstone ). Unfortunately, these films all ended as box office flops.

Although he is still considered essential in the eyes of many science fiction fans today, his career never really took off. In the 1990s, he portrayed numerous secondary characters in more or less well-known films ( Jade , Rock , Susan Has a Plan ). Cameron thought of him for Titanic , but the director ultimately preferred Billy Zane (the same for Avatar where he was approached for the role of Stephen Lang ). Like countless other glories of the 80’s, the 90’s shunned it.

During the 2000s, he mainly devoted himself to series and films of lower quality. He thus plays a recurring role in The Seven Mercenaries , Adventure and Associates and Hawaii . As a tribute to the star he was in the 80’s, he appears in Planet Terror – a Grindhouse film (2007) by Robert Rodriguez and One Night Out (2011) in the role of Topher Grace ‘s father . In 2010, he even moved on to directing with “The Blood Bond”. The following year, he starred in The Divide, an anticipation thriller behind closed doors by Xavier Gens directly released on DVD in France.
