Ben Gregg’s Basketball Career
Since childhood, Ben has been exposed to his father, Matt Gregg’s, basketball activities, gaining early exposure to the sport and even serving as the team’s water boy during games. It is reasonable to assume that his father played a significant role in igniting Ben’s passion for the game and inspiring him to pursue it as a profession. Ben actively competed in basketball tournaments at Clackamas High School in Portland. His commitment to Gonzaga at the age of 18, committing to join the renowned Spokane college the following year, marked a significant milestone. Despite originally planning to attend in the subsequent year, he was encouraged by the team’s assistant coach to join the Zags for the 2021 season. To fulfill his high school graduation requirements, he had to complete the entire semester in just six weeks. While juggling his studies, he intensified his training regimen to prepare for college, culminating in his selection for the national team’s first team by the end of December. During his freshman season, he made appearances in 18 games, playing 55 minutes and contributing 17 points to help the team secure a victory over San Diego. Additionally, he played 108 minutes across 17 games, achieving a season-high of 12 points against Alcorn.
