Matt Shultz Biography, Age

Matthew Ray Shultz was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky on October 23, 1983, where the musician and his older brother grew up in the Bowling Green, Kentucky neighborhood. Her father, Brad Sr., was also a musician. His parents separated very young and his mother met his football coach. It is for this reason that Matt Shultz left the team.

Shultz comes from a poor home, he and his older brother were sometimes teased by other kids in their neighborhood and school, as they called them “poor boys”. Matt in an interview recalls how his father; a truck driver was handing them older cousins’ clothes they wore to school. When the school children shouted ‘poor boy’ in their ears, they responded by singing, ‘People talk shit, they can kiss your back. from this hand. This experience would later become an inspiration for his future band’s first song.

After high school, Matt worked odd jobs from construction plumber to working at a sandwich bar, to telemarketing, all in an effort to support himself. After working as a construction plumber for a while, he said he believed that if he didn’t quit the next minute, he would be stuck with the job for the rest of his life. So he left to take another job. as a telemarketer. After a while in his new job, he just felt it was time for him to take the bull by the horn and pursue his dream.

Musical career

Shultz gathered friends from high school, along with his older brother and together they formed the band Cage The Elephant in 2006. It wasn’t the first time they had been in a band. In high school, they were all involved in a band “Perfect Confusion” and even released a self-titled LP in 2005. Additionally, Matt Shultz was also part of an experimental punk band called “Left Nostril” back in middle school.

The band adopted the name Cage The Elephant as the band’s name following an incident in 2006. According to Matt Shultz, a mentally ill man approached the band after a show hugged him and repeats the phrase “We must lock up the elephant” over and over again.

After their impressive performance at the 2007 South by Southwest Music Festival, the band signed with Relentless Records. Prior to the release of their debut album in 2008, they moved to London, England. Between 2008 and 2015, the band released four studio albums. Their debut album Cage the Elephant was a mix of funk, classic rock and blues.

Their second album Thank You, Happy Birthday, which arrived three years later (2011) was more punk rock. Their third album Melophobia (2013), the result of the team’s collaborative efforts to reclaim their musical identity, earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album in 2015. Their fourth studio album Dis-moi que je suis belle was released in December 2015 and it won them the Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. Their latest album is a live album titled Non pelé, released in July 2017.

The band currently consists of his brother BradShultz, who is the lead guitarist, Nick Bockrath (guitarist) Daniel Tichenor (bassist/backing vocals), Jared Champion (drummer), Matthan Minster (keyboardist). Matt Shultz is the lead vocalist as well as rhythm guitarist.

His wife

Shultz is married to French model and actress Juliette Buchs. The couple married in a civil ceremony in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 2014, then celebrated their wedding in Rennes, Buchs’ hometown, Brittany with friends and family in August and in the United States in October of the same year. Although reports indicate that the couple has been separated for a long time, we have not confirmed the rumors at this time.
