American professional baseball was born on November 26, 1985, and named Matthew Martin Lee Carpenter. His birthplace was Galveston, Texas as the son of Rick and Tammie Carpenter. His dad played baseball in college and then turned to coaching high school baseball when they moved to La Marque, Texas. He headed La Marque High School before moving to Lawrence E. Elkins High School and then Prosper High School near Dallas, where he is currently.
Matt Carpenter attended Elkins High School, played baseball and was named a 2004 TPX Second Team High School All-American, in addition to holding the Elkins High School record for most hits in career. After high school, he then headed to Texas Christian University (TCU), where he majored in communications and stood out on its varsity baseball team. Matt was named a second-team All-Mountain West Conference in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
