Matt Achmoody Obituary – On October 21, 2023, Matthew Joel Achmoody, 37, of Columbus, went to be with the Lord. He was born in Westerville, Ohio, on August 31, 1986, to James and Carol (Blake) Achmoody. Matt had a strong but compassionate personality and appreciated spending time with family and friends. Matt, who is inherently philosophical, loved extended discussions with his father about complex things.
These discussions became a’regular thing’ over time. Matt was a deep thinker who expressed his inner thoughts and heart through poetry, an external representation that provided peace during difficult times in his life. Matt loved a good round of golf, music, and a decent sense of humor. In recent years, he has developed a passion for cooking and has developed his own dishes.
His cooking skills and inventive dishes were well received by his friends and family. Matt graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2009, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor in Business Administration. Matt was active in fraternities and served as president of Delta Tau Delta. This ‘brotherhood’ fostered lifelong bonds. Matt entered the business field and spent 12 years with Unum Insurance. Growing up, he always maintained he wanted a profession that required business clothing.
And he received exactly that! He began his work as a sales representative and rose through the ranks to become the Managing Director of the Pittsburgh office. He frequently spoke about the benefits of this role, which allowed him to train and develop others, allowing each team member to become a better version of themselves. Several of those he hired/trained rose to become among the company’s best sales representatives. His staff and colleagues adored and admired him.
