Dwight Yorke, a Manchester United legend, has cautioned the Red Devils against acquiring former Arsenal striker Donyell Malen.
Yorke emphasized that engaging in a swap deal with Borussia Dortmund involving Jadon Sancho and Malen would be a wasteful expenditure for Man United.
He expressed his belief that Malen, who currently plays for Dortmund, would not enhance Erik ten Hag’s side.
As Sancho seems destined to depart from the Premier League club in January, either on loan or permanently, Man United is exploring alternative options, including a potential swap deal with Malen.
Yorke told Instant Casino, “I have not seen much of Donyell Malen, but I know he’s scored a few goals in the Bundesliga. I have not seen enough of him to make a judgment on him, but he seems to be an alright player.”
He continued, “United can’t waste money signing players who won’t enhance the squad. I’m an aspiring coach, and that is the first thing I take into consideration before I sign anyone.”
Yorke also stressed the importance of signing players who can handle the pressure of the club and contribute to winning matches.
