Linda Lavin was born on October 15, back in 1937 in Portland, Maine. Her mother Lucille was a singer while her father David Lavin was an entrepreneur. At the beginning of her flowering, Lavin started performing on stage at the age of 5 and she later studied at the Herbert Berghof studio in New York. She continued to act in theater productions throughout high school and even while studying at the College of William & Mary in Virginia. After graduating from college, she performed in the Compass Players entertainment troupe in the late 1950s and began performing in Broadway shows in the 1960s.
