Leo Richard Howard was born in Newport Beach, California on July 13, 1997 as the only child of his parents. Although American by nationality, he is ethnically mixed and grew up in Fallbrook, in northern San Diego County. He developed an interest in martial arts by the age of three and, as mentioned, attended a formal training class by the age of four. During his training the boy discovered his innate martial arts ability and by the time he turned seven he was well on his way to developing his extreme martial arts ability by integrating his already grueling routine with gymnastics.
As he neared adulthood, Leo Howard began training under the supervision of Matt Mullins, known as the world martial arts champion. The young martial artist became the youngest trainee in his class and he thrived under the tutelage of Matt Mullins, clinching three world championships by the age of eight.
As in previous states, when he was nine years old, Leo became the youngest performer with Mullins’ Sideswipe Performance Team, a well-known traveling martial arts-based group. He later engaged in modeling and acting in several films. Leo also made the Guinness World Records for being the youngest television director after directing an episode of Kickin It, titled Fight at the Museum, in the show’s fourth season.
