Mr Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy of Lagos State, has announced that discussions are underway with potential investors to collaborate on the construction of the Lekki-Epe International Airport, which is under development by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration.
Upon completion, the airport is expected to have the capacity to accommodate 350 aircraft and cater to five million air travelers annually.
During an interactive session with journalists in Alausa on Thursday, Omotoso stated that the airport is projected to be finished within one to two years.
He elaborated, “The airport will be constructed on a 3,500-hectare land, with a capacity to accommodate 350 aircraft and an estimated five million passengers annually.
“We are currently in the process of identifying the contractors for the project and engaging in discussions with potential investors, as the state alone may not be able to solely finance it from its own resources.”
“The establishment of the Lekki-Epe International Airport will alleviate the burden on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and will be finalized within the tenure of this administration.”
“It is a project with a relatively short timeline, targeted to be completed within one to two years,” added the commissioner.
