Lagos State Government Commends Gbajabiamila for Surulere General Hospital


Prof. Akin Abayomi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, has praised Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, for his role in the upgrade and reconstruction of the Femi Gbajabiamila Clinic in Surulere, which has been transformed into a modern 60-bed Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital with advanced care facilities located on Iyun Road, Surulere, Lagos.

Following an inspection tour of the upcoming hospital, Abayomi expressed satisfaction with the architectural design and the fit-for-purpose model created by the project manager, as stated in a press release on Monday.

The health commissioner also expressed optimism about how the facility will benefit the health sector in Lagos and the overall well-being of the residents, particularly in addressing the critical shortage of bed space in the state despite its growing population.

He highlighted the state-of-the-art features of the hospital, including radiology, a large laboratory, paediatric, physiotherapy, surgical, and X-ray facilities, and expressed confidence in its potential to substantially enhance the well-being of the area’s residents.

Abayomi also expressed enthusiasm about integrating the facility into Lagos’ roster of General Hospitals and commended the quality and construction of the hospital, anticipating a positive response from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the significant addition to public health facilities.

The commissioner acknowledged Gbajabiamila’s immense contribution and foresight in facilitating the establishment of the hospital and assured that the facility would be optimally utilized for the benefit of all Lagos residents.

The inspection tour was also attended by Dr Ademuyiwa Eniayewun, the Permanent Secretary, Health Service Commission; Dr Olumide Sojinrin, the Medical Director of Randle General Hospital, Surulere; Dr Oduwole, Director of Projects at the Lagos State Ministry of Health; and Dr Olawale Adegbite, Director of Clinical Service and Training at the HSC.
